Let's face it, if he had any problems with porn at all he wouldn't be living in the valley! Having worked in a couple of adult video establishments I've seen a few parodies in my day. Hopefully whomever is making it realizes that this isn't 'Nam! There are rules! Rule 1: Never take yourself too seriously! If you wanted to make a deep movie with significant emotional impact you wouldn't be directing under the name "Oliver Bone"! Rule 2: Incorporate the characters actual personality into yours. One of the crucial laws of parody is that there must be truth in what you're doing. Don't write a scene and then slap a similar sounding name on the characters, ask yourself "What WOULD Donny do if he walked in on Walter, three hookers and a chicken?" and go from there. Rule 3: Be a fan! If your script sounds like you got a 10 year old to explain an already existing body of work for two minutes before you wrote it, you're going to annoy a LOT of people! That's how we wound up with Tim Burton's "Batman" and Michael Bay's "Transformers" after all. Those that follow the rules produce such hilarious hits as "Genital hospital 4" and that new Jersey Shore parody but those that ignore them wind up churning out crap that has little or nothing at all to do with the original subject matter (i.e., The Sopornos")! All the hubbub about the release tells me that they're not just looking for an AVN award though. They generally don't do this unless they think they have something special. And if it's bad? Well, I guess our only recourse is to have a caucasian and say "Well that's just, like, your interpretation man!". I think The Dude would love something like this.
