Hey as you all may know, Dudeism is going to play an enthusiastic and active (and also very relaxed) part in this year’s Lebowskifest in Louisville. It’s the 10th annual Fest, so we’re expecting it to really throw rocks tonight! (And every night.) We’re hoping that any ordained Dudeist priests attending this very holy event will gather together and get to know one another. To that end, we’re hoping to organize some various what-have-you.
First of all, we’re filming a documentary (see more info here) and want to interview as many Dudeists as possible on camera. The best way to do that is to meet us at our booth at the Garden Party on Saturday July 16th. Also at the booth we’ll be giving away free stuff, practicing Dudeist spiritual practices, and playing some not-exhausting miniature lawn bowling. We might have a low-key impromptu acoustic jam so bring an instrument and join in if you like.
For those of you in the media, we’ll have galleys of our new book The Abide Guide available, provided you promise to review it and not accidentally leave it in the backseat of your illegally-parked cars.
The Dudely Lama is hoping to join in on Thursday night with The Dude Abides band at this event. Band leader Tom Esterline is an awesomely dudely fellow and the pizza is supposed to be pretty far out.
We’re thinking of staging some flashmob-type stuff in downtown Louisville. March of the Dudeguins? A “rug in” where we all lay down on the ground in town and take it easy for all us sinners? Let us know if you have any ideas.
Find us at the fest or where we’re staying — at the Marriott next to the official Lebowskifest hotel – the Crowne Plaza. You can also email at center@dudeism.com for more info.
Catch ya further on down the trail!

I managed to find my way to Louisville for the extremely low key event of the 10th Annual Lebowski Fest on Saturday, July 16th after completing very little in the way of productivity. There were many under-achievers as well as Lebowski over-achievers milling about in a admirably unorganized manner, each trying to avoid the gaze of Mr. Yellow-Face in the 88 degree heat of the early afternoon. Things began to warm up, event wise, as the afternoon began to cool down, temperature-wise, through the musical talents of the Seedy Seeds band.
The Executive Srike & Spare bowling lanes staff hosted the evenings bowling bonanza and many Walter-wanna-bes and mock-Dudes enjoyed the soothing hum of the pin setters throughout the evening. One could even find a White Russian or two with very little effort.
Louisville’s finest was on hand to make sure that order was maintained while simultaneously scoring some really sweet bumper stickers and patches from the dudely retailers that set up inside of the Executive. Keeping the peace was pretty much a done deal for almost everyone in a very dudely way so, hell, man, chill and just abide with the crowd. (That’s gotta be some easy duty.)
The evening concluded, for me at least, as simply as it began, with a cool walk through the starry night seeking a place to simply be. And that’s not a bad job to have either…far out dudes!

It was a total blast, met some cool Dudes. Helping Duder with new ordinations was the highlight for me. Too many Dudeists to mention, but they were all good people, and proud we are of all of them.
Peace Dudes
